About Michael J. Ryan

​Michael (“Mike”) Ryan is a civil trial lawyer in Florida with over three decades of experience. He has handled a diverse range of cases involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death from vehicular accidents, complex medical malpractice and products liability, as well as national and international cases involving deceptive products and civil RICO.  Over the years, his clients have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in damages from settlements and verdicts.​

When Mike takes on a case, he does so with the intention of winning.  His relentless pursuit of justice leaves no stone unturned in building a rock-solid case for his clients. His commitment to justice is derived from his strong passion for making the world a better place, proven through his work in the community including his election as Mayor of the City of Sunrise, Florida since  2010.  â€‹

What makes Mike stand out as an exceptional lawyer are not only his successes and results-oriented approach, but also his unwavering dedication to his clients. He doesn't just see his clients as cases - he understands that they are real people in need of support and compassion. He is there to guide them through the legal process, providing answers and ongoing reassurance along the way.

Mike was born in Queens, New York, but grew up in South Florida. He attended George Washington University where he majored in finance and earned a degree in Business Administration. Mike then attended Case Western Reserve University School of Law on a full tuition scholarship, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

After law school, Mike received an appointment as a law clerk for the United States District Court in the Southern District of Florida. Following his federal clerkship, he worked as a trial attorney with the State Public Defender’s Office before joining the Federal Public Defender’s Office as a trial attorney.  Thereafter, Mike became partner in two prominent law firms specializing in representing clients with catastrophic injuries and families enduring the pain of wrongful death.

After decades of working as a partner in big firms, Mike followed his dream to open a boutique law practice focused on providing individualized attention and getting the absolute best results for his clients, as Mike understands that a client's case is not just about legalities - it's also about helping people rebuild their lives.

    • Plaintiff’s Steering Committee in MDL 1626, In Re: Accutane Products Liability Litigation; Co-Chair of the Accutane MDL Discovery Subcommittee

    • Court Appointed Fee Committee member in MDL 2047, Chinese-Manufactured Drywall Products Liability Litigation (involving an estimated settlement value in excess of one billion dollars ($1,000,000,000.00)

    • Class counsel and as liaison counsel in Chinese Drywall Litigation before the 17th Judicial Circuit in and for Broward County, Florida

    • Mike has been accepted by Courts as an attorneys’ fee expert

  • Mike was elected to be the Mayor of the City of Sunrise, Florida in 2010, 2012, 2016, 2020, and still serves as Mayor today

  • Mike served as a PTA President and an Executive Board Officer; Volunteer coach for youth soccer, baseball, football; Two terms as Chair of the Education Advisory Board for the City of Sunrise

  • Mike serves or has served on numerous community Boards and Committees:

    • Appointed member of the Broward County Regional Planning Council

    • Member of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association Committee on Domestic Violence Injunction Process

    • Member of the Solid Waste Working Group for Broward County

    • Governing Board Member of the Solid Waste Working Group

    • Served as Board Member, Broward Behavioral Health Coalition 

    • Served as chair (and prior vice-chair) of the Broward County Consolidated Communications Committee (regional emergency 911 communications)

    • Served as co-chair of the Communications Working Group for Strengthening Police-Community Relations

    • Served past chair and past vice-chair of the Public Safety Committee for the Broward League of Cities

    • Past co-chair of the Broward County League of Cities’ Joint School Resource Officers Task Force
